In today’s Arabic meetup, we took a big step forward—applying our knowledge of Arabic letter shapes to read real words.
Having completed the full Arabic alphabet in earlier sessions, our focus today was on strengthening letter recognition within connected words. We worked through a range of reading exercises, applying what we’ve learned about how letters change shape depending on their position—beginning, middle, end, or isolated.
A major part of the session was spent practicing reading fluency and word identification. We paid close attention to how the familiar shapes of letters shift subtly across different fonts and calligraphic styles. Recognizing these stylistic variations is a key skill, especially when moving from beginner texts to more authentic material.
If you missed the session or want to review, here is the deck from today:
Next week, we’ll continue with more reading-focused exercises, gradually increasing word complexity and fluency. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to jump in, now’s perfect—we’re putting the pieces together, one word at a time.
See you next week, and happy reading!
